Cupcake wedding cakes are on the rise. And we were thrilled we got to do this one for our first official gay wedding! The two grooms couldn’t have been nicer and wanted a simple color scheme of black, silver, and white. Simple but oh so elegant!
Each tier of cupcakes is a different flavor with a top cake for cutting. From top to bottom: top cake – chocolate cake with vanilla chocolate chip buttercream, pumpkin cupcake with cream cheese buttercream, vanilla cupcakes with mocha buttercream, and chocolate cupcakes with white mint frosting. All the cupcake decorations are fondant with hand piped initials. The top cake has fondant and royal icing decor with a matching silver ribbon.

How do you get fondant to taste good?
I’ve found in my experience people either love it or hate it. I am indifferent. But what we do is put a nice thicker layer of buttercream underneath the fondant. So there is something for both the fondant and non fondant lovers. The ones who don’t like it just peel it off. Hope that helps!
