This was another great cake i had the pleasure of making for our little cousin Emma’s 1st Birthday! It was also my first ever time making a matching “smash cake”! What’s that you ask, since i only learned what it was about a week ago…lol. It’s basically a mini version of the cake exclusively for the birthday boy or girl to eat and “smash” (which as you can see Emma certainly did!). It’s usually a tradition reserved for the 1st birthday to provides a great photo op to remember the 1st birthday by.
The cake itself is yellow cake with pink buttercream on the outside, and vanilla rainbow sprinkle buttercream filling on the inside. The stripes, flowers, bottom ball border, and super cute teddy bears are all made of fondant. The teddy bears were my FAVORITE part! And the blocks are actually tinted white chocolate! so everything is completely edible!
I’m happy to report it was a hit, and little Emma loved it! And we think she got more on her than in her…lol. And all the adults gobbled it up as well…hehehe. I love making fun kids cakes! Happy 1st Birthday Emma!

This was a special cake i made for my very dear Aunt Vinnie’s 60th birthday! It was a 2 tiered chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream, a special request from the birthday girl. That was her only request and she left the rest up to me. And yes if you give me free reign, your cake will probably involve purple…lol. So i decided to do a photo cake that included pictures from different things throughout her life.
Highlights included the Beatles, a few family pics on the beach, her old purple Cadillac, her dog, ice cream (a family favorite!), favorite movies, the old glasses she used to wear in the 60s, and a disco ball (to represent her 70s clubbing days). The cake is covered in fondant, with a fondant record on top, and all the images are printed in edible paper. So everything is edible! She was very surprised and she absolutely loved the cake inside and out! Happy 60th AV!!

Although i’m a Yankee fan through and through, i dug deep down and “somehow” managed to make a yummy and tasty Phillies Birthday cake.
Even though we totally won the Series…hehe. This was actually for a family member (although they are the Phillies contingent, we still love them) and i’m happy to report she loved it! The cake itself is chocolate cake with vanilla chocolate chip buttercream as requested by the Birthday girl. This combo is becoming quite popular, who knew? The lettering on top is done in colored white chocolate and the sides are garnished with red and black sprinkles.

This was a very awesome cake to make (and our largest yet, at 8 layers of chocolate and PB buttercream!). It was for a surprise 50th birthday. The birthday boy loves old cars. He bought and restored an original old school 37 Chevy a few years ago. His wife and i had been secretly emailing back and forth for months….hehe. She sent me a bunch of pics of his car, so we could model the cake after it.
The cake is covered in fondant, and all the details are made from fondant. Including the old Chevy logo. Other than a few structural toothpicks, everything on the car is totally edible. And some fun sparkly luster dust gives it the fabulous shine! I’m happy to report, he was totally surprised and loved the cake. He even kept the license plates!
And a super special thanks to our guest artist, Michele Fais (www.michelefais.com) for helping us out on this cake!

Happy Valentine’s Day! These fun L-O-V-E truffles were for a recent NYC bridal shower. The tiffany blue themed boxes were topped with a flower for that extra special touch. Each box added to the centerpiece of the table. Two boxes contained the L-O-V-E truffles (plain milk and white chocolate truffles) and the other two boxes contained an assortment of our famous truffle flavors. A sweet treat for the bride to be. Have a great Valentine’s Day everyone!

A sweet treat that is simple, elegant and still delicious. And they are super easy to make. Take your favorite brownies and put them in the fridge overnight. Then cut them into hearts using a cookie cutter. Cut out letters, shapes or whatnot from thick paper (like a card stock), lay on top of brownie, and then sift powdered sugar over them. Remove the paper and voila, pretty brownies! And deelicious as well!

This was a special cake for a surprise 50th Birthday. The woman of honor’s favorite painting is Klimt’s “The Kiss” and her husband wanted a 3D version in cake, so this is what we came up with. The cake itself is chocolate cake with vanilla chip frosting, covered in fondant (lots o’ fondant, both figures, are made entirely of fondant) and shimmered with various color luster dusts. Happy 50th Linda!

This was another fun order we had right before the holiday rush. It was for a surprise 25th anniversary for two lawyers. The client (their sister/ sister in law) wanted something fun and unique, so we decided to do a cupcake tower with cupcakes that had the balance scale and their initials on them in classic vanilla and chocolate flavors. But why no picture of the tower you ask. As an added challenge, the cupcake tower had to travel to Philadelphia. Since that is out of our delivery area, we came up with an idea. Our client was willing to pick it up from us and assemble it on site. So we were able to give them the cupcakes and the decorated tower (with pretty silver ribbon, which of course i forgot to take a picture of…lol) and it was fabulous. We’re still waiting on a picture of the completed tower, but i am happy to report it was a hit!

Hi all! Hope everyone had a good holiday! This was a super fun custom golf cake we did right before the craziness of the holidays. It was for a surprise 30th birthday and with lots of secret texting back and forth with his wife, we were able to match the birthday boy’s golf bag, and special golf hat! And my personal favorite is the little golfer we made to look just like him, beard and all!
This cake has a bunch of fun stuff going on. The bottom tier is chocolate cake with vanilla chocolate chip filling, the top two cake tiers are yellow cake with chocolate pudding filling, and the golf hat is actually a big ball of chocolate chip cookie then covered in fondant! Everything was frosted in tinted buttercream, and garnished with fondant and gumpaste decorations. The “water trap” is also icing, and the “sand trap” is peanut butter icing with graham cracker crumbs on it. His wife requested if possible we sneak in some peanut butter on the cake for her, mission accomplished.
The only non edible thing is the pole for the flag and the trees. The base of the trees are styrofoam cones that are covered with piped buttercream. So you can lick them but can’t eat them!
I am so happy to say the cake was a hit, he absolutely loved it and was totally surprised! Happy 30th Gary!
