This was quite an unusual cake for a long time client for her son’s college graduation. The graduate is going into a great job in the criminal justice field, LOVES Superman, and plays lacrosse. So we tried to come up with something that incorporated those three themes and this is what we came up with – a police shield cake with superman bursting through it holding a lacrosse stick. It was definitely a challenge but a fun one. Everything is edible, except for of course the Superman figurine.
The cake itself is yellow cake with vanilla rainbow sprinkle icing filling covered and decorated with fondant, and my favorite, edible silver luster dust to give it the added shield sparkle! The lettering is done in royal icing and superman is standing in a pool of red sanding sugar, to keep with the red Rutgers theme. And the graduate loved it, to quote ” This cake is SICK! It’s the most awesome cake ever!!!”, so i took that as a very good sign. Happy Graduation Bryan!!!
